How We Got Our Start

Sylvan Studio began in 1959 with a simple mission: create meaningful ways to recognize excellence. Over the decades, we’ve grown right alongside our community, expanding our shop, adding new technology and evolving our services to keep up with how people celebrate today.

Milestones along the way:

1959: Opened as a small ribbon and rosette shop in downtown Sylvania, Ohio.

1970s–80s: Grew with the community and across the U.S., adding plaques, medals, ribbons and school awards as local and national demand surged.

1990s: Expanded product lines and built relationships with national clients, gaining recognition beyond northwest Ohio.

2000s: Launched a new showroom and website, making it easier for customers to browse and customize awards and gifts.

2010s: Upgraded facilities and embraced digital design tools to streamline custom orders and improve turnaround.

2020s: Invested in advanced laser engraving, expanded into signage and personalized gifts and added custom apparel, embroidery and screen printing for teams, clubs and businesses.

Today: A full-service recognition and personalization studio serving northwest Ohio with trophies, apparel, signage and more for schools, businesses, families and events.

Through every decade, one thing has stayed the same: our roots in the community and our commitment to helping people celebrate what matters most.
